With the first game of the 2010 March Madness tournament right around the corner, everyone is scrambling to get in their bracket selections? How many brackets are you going to be filling out this year.

Like many people this year, they have not really watched too much regular season college basketball year and now how to come up with their bracket picks.

Here are some tips for filling out your March Madness Brackets:

When in doubt stick with the favorites -Do not start picking a bunch of upsets, stick to the favorites for the most part.

See what other experts say – Sites like ESPN, yahoo, sporting news, cbs all have their own experts picks. Listen to what they are saying to help get a general idea of who to pick. Do not forget about our site .

Listen to your Gut – Have you been watching a team and really think they are the best, go with your gut.

Avoid 15 and 16 seed upsets – The 15th and 16th seeds rarely win a game. In fact the 16 seeds have never beaten a number 1 seed in the current format (0 for 100).

Avoid all number 1 seeds in the Final 4 – This has only happened in 2008.

Do not let your Alma Mater cloud your judgment – Just because you use to go to some school do not let that dictate your picks. Be realistic with your teams chances.

Look for potential match-ups and Roads to Championship – It is a good idea to see what teams a certain team needs to beat to make it all the way. A tougher road to the championship will obviously be a more risky pick no matter how good they are.

Look for winning streaks – Is a team hot or cold entering the tournament? Take this into consideration when picking some of the initial rounds.

Team Experience in Tournament – Look to see how experienced a team is in the tournament. Teams that have been there before usually know what it takes to make it all the way.

Good luck with your Bracket selection! Be sure to check our round by round March Madness Picks.

Texas University are not really on many people short list for the March Madness tournament but that is just the way that Texas like it. For them the pressure is off and they can get on with enjoying the whole experience.

The Longhorns coach, Rick Barnes has instilled a never say die in his team and there is something about the way he has them playing as a unit that is starting to make people sit up and take notice. Under the guidance of Barnes the Longhorns are now established as in the Big 12 conference and they have now been involved in a school record, eleven consecutive NCAA tournament appearances.

Bet on Texas now and get $250 Free

Their record shows some solid performances with some notable victories and in many of these games they have most definitely been the underdogs.

However, the recent performance against the Baylor Bears exposed some shocking weaknesses in the Longhorns gameplay and drew some heavy criticism for Barnes. Not an ideal preparation for the forthcoming tournament, I’m sure you will agree but the Longhorns have been down this route before and they should be able to rise above the negativity and get on with the job in hand.

Last years performance in the tournament saw Texas go out to a spirited performance by one of the pre tournament favorites, Duke, which was not really much of a surprise.

The Longhorns did not disgrace themselves but it turned out to be one match to many against a Duke side which was brimming with confidence after some highly impressive displays of their own.

Texas 2010 March Madness Picks

Texas is a big power house basketball team with recent success in the tournament. This should help them in the tournament despite not being one of the top seeds. Getting to the Elite 8 could be possible.

Stay tuned for game by game picks each round of the tournament and check out the future march madness odds for the championship.

The Wildcats are going into March Madness in the form of their lives and are now buoyed by the fact that their coach,Frank Martin, has been awarded the Big 12 Conference coach of the year by both the Associated press and the league coaches. This is a prestigious award indeed but was not entirely unexpected as the Wildcats have just enjoyed their best season for over 20 years.

You should also take into consideration that Kansas State University have also achieved their highest ranking in over 50 years finishing at number 5 in both major polls. They have in fact been ranked higher than the top 25 in both polls for over 12 weeks which is the longest record since 1973.

Bet on Kansas State now and get $250 Free

So, as I am sure you can imagine, confidence in the camp is ruining at an all time high and the only slight worry is if the Wildcats can handle the massive weight of expectation that has been put on them.

The form of Jacob Pulen, Denis Clemente and Jamar Samuels has been outstanding of late and it is hoped that they can carry this confidence on through the forthcoming tournament. Pullen especially, has received rave reviews for his play over the last few weeks.

Now that last years March Madness is now well and truly behind the Wildcats, this year it would seem that everything has more or less fallen together at exactly the right time. Many pundits rate the Wildcats as favorite material to win the tournament and if they play to their potential that assumption may not be to far off the mark.

Kansas State 2010 March Madness Picks

Kansas State has played well during most of the season but can they keep it going in the Tournament? The sweet 16 seems to be a good position for the Widlcats for finish, possibly the Eliate 8. Hopefully the pressure of being ranked one of their highest seeds ever is not too much pressure for them.

A disappointing end to the season for Syracuse with the defeat against Louisville but that hasn’t altered the fact that they are still firm favorites for the March madness tournament.

The game meant so much more to Louisville than Syracuse and at several stages throughout the match the Cardinals were playing with so much emotion and so much passion it seemed like they had more players out there than Syracuse and the 78-68 result was a fair result at the end of the day.

With that disappointment behind them, Syracuse will be able to concentrate on the job in hand and that must be a worry for the other teams in the forthcoming tournament.

There is no getting away from the fact that they won the league and in Scoop Jardine they have a player who many people rate very highly and he was one of the few players who shone in the defeat to Louiseville.

Syracuse in the 2009 Tournament

Last years tournament saw Syracuse beaten 84 – 71 to an unstoppable Oklahoma with Blake Griffin and Tony Crocker dominating proceedings. With Griffin scoring 30 points and Crocker a career best 28 points it was clear what Syracuse were up against and it turned out that they just couldn’t cope with Oklahoma’s game play.

I am among many others who sincerely believe that this year will turn out to be more productive for the Orange and the season that has just finished just goes to show what a top quality team they really are.
